What is the process of screen printing?

Screen printing involves UV inks being applied directly to a product’s surface by forcing ink through a fine screen mesh with the use of a squeegee. Typically, screen printing is applied one colour at a time and are primarily used for logos that are 1 colour. Additional screens are used if the logo has more than 1 colour and pricing is determined based on how many colours are printed. There are two methods of screen printing, Flatbed, and Rotary Screen Printing. Flatbed is suitable for t-shirts and tote bags and Rotary Screen Printing is perfect for drink bottles.

    Advantages

  • ✔ Large print areas on flat and cylindrical products are possible
  • ✔ Ideal for large solid areas of colour
  • ✔ Can PMS match colours on white or light coloured products
  • ✔ Screen print ink drys fast, so products can usually be shipped right after printing
  • ✔ Metallic gold and silver inks are available on request

    Limitations

  • ✔ Not recommended for logos and designs that have very fine lines and half-tones
  • ✔ Cannot print variable data
  • ✔ Close PMS matches struggle to show up on dark-coloured objects
  • ✔ Each colour incurrs a setup cost
